EPILEPTIC ATMs , see why...

In the past one month, they have been a recent rise in the incidence of faulty ATM machines in Nigeria. whereby nigerians have been experiencing the issue of failed transactions, debit without dispensing, sudden debit alerts and so on...

I have compiled a list of what could be the reason behind all this;

1) Faulty or malfunctioning dispensers: This is what hapens when the atm has a faulty cash dispenser, this is what happens when you insert your card into the machine and insert your password or pin, select the amount you want to withdraw but the ATM fails to give you the correct amount or no cash at all . This issue can be resolved right away by going to your Bank where you will be asked to fill a form and so on...

2) Worn Out Card Reader: Every bank or credit card has a dark stripe at the back. That line is a magnetic strip where specific details about the card and it owner are stored. When a bank or credit card is swiped at an ATM, the reader verifies the information contained in the strip before it authorizes the transaction, with time, especially if the ATM machine is frequently used. The ATM readers can wear out. this makes it difficult for the machine to read and verify the information on the card thereby causing the machine to malfunction

3) Broken Keypad: Most ATM machines usually have a physical keypad where customers input their password and other instructions into the machine . Over time the keypads gets faulty causing the machine to become unstable, a button may get stuck or would refuse to respond when pressed.

4) Software Glitches: Over the recent years ATM technology has advanced exponentially. most ATM machines now have screen touch functions and rely on computer software to function and like other machines that use computer software they also experience software glitches and need to be updated regularly and even with the best of maintenance, malfunctions can still occur .

so my best advice is that next time you have an ATM problem, relax, go to your bank and lay a formal complain. this explains the long ques we see see at our bank of recent tho... for more visit
